Sled hockey a.k.a Sledge Hockey

What is Sled Hockey?

Sled hockey is an adaptive version of regulation hockey that enables players of all abilities to play the game. It is played on lightweight sleds with attached hockey blades and with 2 modified sticks. The sticks are shorter and have sharp pics at the end that allow the player to propel themselves on the ice while also managing the puck. Players who have upper-body mobility issues can have the option of using a sled with a handle that is pushed by a stand-up skater. Sled hockey follows most of the same rules as regulation hockey, with some modifications. It is played primarily by individuals with a mobility disability, but is open to anyone! We encourage people of all abilities to come out and try the sport.
